Bookkeeping and Tax Services in the Bronx, NY
London's Tax Services provides monthly bookkeeping, payroll and tax preparation for Bronx small businesses and residents from our office in White Plains, a straight run up the Bronx River Parkway from the north Bronx. Bronx clients are New York City taxpayers, which brings a set of city-level rules that do not apply in Westchester, and we handle them every day. The first 15 minute consultation is free.
Twenty years working on the Bronx border
We spent 20 years in Mount Vernon, directly on top of the north Bronx, and a large share of our clients still live in Wakefield, Woodlawn, Williamsbridge, Baychester or Co-op City. Our office is now in downtown White Plains, a straightforward drive up the Bronx River Parkway, and many Bronx clients work with us entirely remotely. Unlike a seasonal storefront, we are open in July when a notice arrives.
The businesses we keep books for
Home health care agencies and independent aides, barbershops and salons, delis and takeaways, contractors and trades, livery and rideshare drivers, daycare providers and small nonprofits. What almost all of them share is that the books were never set up properly at the start, so every tax season becomes an archaeology project. Monthly bookkeeping ends that cycle.
Tax issues that come up here
You are a New York City resident, so city income tax applies
This is the single biggest difference between a Bronx return and a Westchester one. Bronx residents pay New York City resident personal income tax on top of New York State tax. It also means you may qualify for city-level credits that Westchester residents cannot claim, including the NYC school tax credit and the city earned income credit. Those credits are missed constantly, particularly on self-prepared returns.
Unincorporated Business Tax for Bronx business owners
New York City levies an Unincorporated Business Tax on many sole proprietorships and partnerships operating in the city, above a threshold. It is a city tax with no state or Westchester equivalent, and it takes new business owners by surprise. Whether it applies to you, and whether restructuring the business would reduce it, is worth a conversation before year end rather than after.
Working in Westchester, living in the Bronx, or the reverse
Crossing the city line in either direction complicates the return. Bronx residents who work in Yonkers may owe the Yonkers nonresident earnings tax. Westchester residents who work in the Bronx do not owe NYC resident tax but often have it withheld anyway. Both situations are common on this border and both are correctable.
Beyond filing
Want to lower next year's bill, not just file this one?
We also work with The Bronx business owners and families all year on tax planning in White Plains and Westchester: entity and S corp decisions, retirement plans, New York PTET and year-end moves.

The Bronx tax questions we get asked
Do Bronx residents pay New York City income tax?
Yes. The Bronx is one of the five boroughs, so Bronx residents pay New York City resident personal income tax in addition to New York State tax. They may also qualify for city credits such as the NYC school tax credit and the city earned income credit.
How far is your office from the north Bronx?
We are at 75 South Broadway in downtown White Plains, a straightforward drive up the Bronx River Parkway from Wakefield, Woodlawn, Williamsbridge and Co-op City. Many Bronx clients also work with us entirely remotely, exchanging documents securely online.
What is the NYC Unincorporated Business Tax?
It is a New York City tax on many unincorporated businesses, such as sole proprietorships and partnerships, operating in the city above a certain income threshold. It has no Westchester equivalent, so business owners who move across the city line are often unaware of it.
Do you offer monthly bookkeeping for Bronx businesses?
Yes. Monthly bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, payroll, and tax-ready financial statements. Most clients come to us after a season where the books took longer to reconstruct than the return took to file.
